Mets Acquire Two Rookie League Prospects
Robertson Has 176 Career Saves
The New York Mets have traded closer David Robertson to the Miami Marlins in exchange for two Rookie League prospects, the team announced Friday night.
Robertson, 39, is a veteran reliever with 176 career saves. He has a 2.92 ERA in 646 appearances over 13 seasons with the Yankees, White Sox, Phillies, Rays, Cubs, and Mets.
The Marlins are getting a proven closer who can help them improve their bullpen. Robertson had 20 saves in 22 opportunities for the Mets last season.
The Mets are getting two young prospects in return. One is a 19-year-old outfielder with a good bat and the other is a 17-year-old shortstop with good fielding skills.
