About Corrie Sanders
Cornelius Johannes Sanders (7 January 1966 – 23 September 2012) was a South African professional boxer who competed from 1989 to 2008. Nicknamed "The Sniper", Sanders is best known for his knockout victory over Wladimir Klitschko in 2003, which won him the WBO heavyweight title.
Sanders' Boxing Career
Sanders began his professional boxing career in 1989. He won his first 22 fights, including victories over future world champions Francois Botha and Oleg Maskaev. In 2003, Sanders challenged Wladimir Klitschko for the WBO heavyweight title. Sanders knocked Klitschko out in the second round, becoming the first boxer to defeat Klitschko.
Sanders' Death
Sanders was shot and killed in a senseless act of cowardice in South Africa on 23 September 2012. He was 46 years old.
