Monaco Grand Prix 2023: Perez Wins Thrilling Wet-Dry Race
Race Recap
Sergio Perez of Red Bull Racing took the checkered flag at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, holding off a charging Carlos Sainz Jr. of Ferrari in a thrilling wet-dry race. The race was marked by multiple incidents and safety car periods, making it one of the most unpredictable and exciting races of the season.
Perez's Triumph
Perez started the race from third on the grid but quickly moved into the lead when Charles Leclerc, who started from pole, stalled at the start. Perez then controlled the pace of the race, despite coming under pressure from Sainz and Max Verstappen. When the rain started to fall midway through the race, Perez was quick to switch to wet tires, giving him a significant advantage over his rivals. He held on to his lead for the remaining laps, despite a late safety car period, to secure his first win of the season. Sainz finished just 0.9 seconds behind Perez in second place, while Verstappen completed the podium in third. Leclerc, who recovered from his poor start to challenge for the lead, finished fourth, ahead of Fernando Alonso of Alpine and Lando Norris of McLaren.
